Declare Your Fashion Independence

Declare your independence from all of the limiting messages you got during your lifetime. The ones you got from the movies and magazines. The messages you got from your mother or your friends about their expectations about how you should look or behave. Let me tell you right now, right up front, that there is no set formula. The way you will look is going to be the way you want to look. A look that is tailored for you.

Ask yourself how much happier you would be if you were not worrying about how your jeans fit all the time, or how much your scale says you weigh. We want to change our bodies for the better but we don't want it to become an obsession. Obsessions become addictions and addictions can ruin and destroy a life.

Instead of focusing on what you can't change, for example, if you have wide hips or you have short legs, think of the ways that you can improve those looks.

Forget that you have short legs or wide hips. You can't change that but maybe you can make your legs shapely by doing some exercise or getting on a walking program.

Also let's be realistic here, the average model is 5'11", weighs 110-115 lbs., and wears a size 0-2. The average American woman is 5'4", weighs 140 lbs., and wears a size 12. So right now the message that you're getting from the media is not necessarily the message that is the most realistic one.

I recently read a study about how where you live affects your body image. A University of Montreal report said that women who live in affluent areas are much more dissatisfied with their bodies than women who live in middle or lower income neighborhoods. The reason given was that in wealthier communities, there tends to be more diet products, workout facilities and fashionable shops. In less affluent locations, women are not so concerned about "Keeping up with the Jonse's."

To help you get started, I want to make you a special offer on my new home study program, "Looking Fabulous After 40 - A woman's guide to fashion, makeup & style."
